Cactorial runs on your Mac, and your projects and recordings stay there. We collect only what we need for your account, your licence and the emails you expect. We don't show ads, sell data, or track you across sites.
Who is responsible
LindenCode IT Services GmbH, Badeweg 4a/3, 9583 Faak am See, Austria, is the controller for the data described here. Questions and requests: info@lindencode.com.
What stays on your Mac
Your recordings, projects, narration, voices, videos and the keys for your voice services stay on your Mac (keys in its Keychain). The app contacts cactorial.com only to sign you in, activate your Mac, refresh your licence and check for updates. Your AI agent and your voice services receive what you send them under your own accounts with them; their privacy policies apply.
What we collect and why
- Your account: your email address, your name if you add it, when you signed up and last signed in, and whether you want our news. We need these to provide your account and licence (contract).
- Signing in: the codes we email you (stored only as a one-way hash), and the IP address the request came from, to stop abuse. We delete them after 7 days (legitimate interest in security).
- Your Macs: an ID the app creates, a one-way hash of the Mac's hardware ID (not the ID itself), the Mac's name and model, the macOS and Cactorial versions, and when it was last seen. We use them to keep a licence to 3 Macs and to give one trial per Mac (contract and legitimate interest).
- Licences and purchases: what you bought, when, how many seats, who holds them, and Paddle's IDs for your purchase. Paddle handles your payment details; we never see your card.
- Sessions: on cactorial.com, one cookie that keeps you signed in; in the app, a sign-in token kept in the Keychain. We use no analytics or advertising cookies, so there is no cookie banner.
- Emails: we email you sign-in codes and messages about your trial, purchases, renewals and account. News and tips only if you asked for them; you can turn them off in your account at any time (consent).
- Messages you send us, to answer them.
Who else processes data
- Cloudflare hosts cactorial.com, its database (stored in Western Europe) and sends our emails, as our processor. Cloudflare may process data outside the EU under the EU's standard contractual clauses.
- Paddle sells Cactorial as Merchant of Record and handles payments, taxes, invoices and refunds. For that, Paddle is a separate controller under its own privacy policy. Paddle tells us what you bought and your email address so we can give you the licence.
How long we keep it
- Your account, licences and Macs: until you delete your account. A Mac you remove is kept as removed, so it doesn't start another trial.
- Sign-in codes and their IP addresses: 7 days. Ended sessions: 7 days after they end.
- Records of purchases, and Paddle's messages about them: as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Write to info@lindencode.com. You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example the one where you live.
Children
Cactorial is not meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
When we change this policy, we update the date above, and tell you by email if the change matters. See also the terms.
